Makeup of the Board

  1. The title shall be the National Diploma Board in Beekeeping for the United Kingdom.
  2. Its function shall be to award a Diploma in Beekeeping to those successful candidates who have already gained the Senior Award of their country's beekeeping Federation or Association (British, Scottish, Welsh and Ulster.)
  3. The Board shall have the powers to grant exemption to the entrance conditions to candidates who by virtue of experience and record shall be deemed to be worthy of exemption.
  4. The officers of the Board shall consist of Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and Advanced Course Director, Auditor and Examination Moderator. These shall be appointed at the Annual General Meeting.
  5. Ordinary meetings may be called at any time, if in the opinion of the Chairman and Secretary, the business in hand requires a mandate from the Board. A postal vote shall be an option.
  6. With the exception of the Secretary and the Auditor, who will be non-voting members, the officers of the Board shall be holders of the National Diploma in Beekeeping.
  7. The Chairman will be granted casting vote privileges.
  8. Board members will be drawn from the following organizations:
  1. The Board shall have powers to co-opt further members.
  2. The Examiners for the Written and Practical Examination shall be nominated at the Annual General Meeting prior to the year in which the examinations take place, as will the venue for the Practical Examination.
  3. The fees for the Diploma Examination, and for re-examination, shall be those determined by the members of the Board. They will be reviewed at each A.G.M. Application should be made to the Secretary for the details of the current fees.
  4. The fees for those candidates wishing to re-take the examination shall be determined separately for the Written examination and for the Practical examination.
  5. The Board shall have the authority to award an Honours Diploma to holders of the National Diploma for a submitted thesis, the subject of which has been agreed in advance by the Board, and which contributes to the advancement of beekeeping knowledge and which has not already been submitted for academic recognition. The Moderator and two other Board members will assess the work and report to the Board on their findings.
  6. Candidates failing the Written Examination may re-take the exanimation with the first time candidates. Candidates failing one section only of the Practical examination may retake that one section at a time and place decided by the Chairman and the two relevant Examiners. Candidates failing a second time will be excluded from any further retakes.
  7. The Board shall provide Advanced Courses in beekeeping at a time and place agreed by the Board.
